Question Getting hurt when using SoJ???

Hmm, as far as I understand things, SoJ does not reflect any damage from the ally back to the caster. Yet when I went I cast the skill on an ally in CoF I am getting hurt pretty badly when he attacks the phantoms?

I have cast the following on my ally when we enter CoF

mending + watchful spirit + essence bond + balthazars spirit

then cast SoJ just before he goes in to battle. When he's figthing Charr, I get no damage but when he fights the phantoms, I get some serious damage done to me?

Now I know that everyone has their own opinions on builds and I am not asking for an opinion on the value of casting any of the aforementioned bonds, just why SoJ is hurting me. So unless it is some combination of the bonds and SoJ that is doing the damage, please do not reply asking why I cast the bonds or try to instruct me in some better CoF builds. We are simply playing about with builds at the moment

TIA

congrats you just got pwned by reversal of damage.... reversal triggers on any damage such as retrobution and holy wrath and Shield of Judgement. Time to ad in some self heals into your build ...

Thanks Barret and Bocjo, you stated the obvious. So obvious that we all missed it and I have been talking to some pretty experienced smiters and 600's in my guild about this

Guess we need to rethink the strategy we were about to use on this instead of the traditional 600/smiter combination that has served us all so well, rofl.

Again my thanks

It's not always been like this. Reversal of Damage got changed to reflect dmg like that, before the smiter didn't get any dmg.
The order of enchantment casting on the 600 hp does a difference on the amount of dmg thrown back to the smiter.

[reversal of damage] is what is harming you. This skill was changed to include that type of damage in an update partly do to the 600/Smite duo farm in CoF.
